We, Ilse and Niek, are passionate about history. We have been running the Hooge Crater Museum full time since 2008, which has grown into the best private WWI museum. From that point of view, we are also involved in the reconstruction and the rich history around Hooge and Bellewaerde. In addition to the museum there is also a cosy themed cafe with tasty local beers and small snacks prepared with local products. We are also the official information point for the Westhoek. All kinds of brochures and cycling and walking maps are available.
Our tourist activities have now been expanded to include a camper point for 8 camper vans.
Camper point Hooge Crater is located at the top of the Ypres Salient with a breathtaking view of Ypres and Poperinge. Within walking distance of Hooge Crater museum and Bellewaerde this is an ideal place to stay. Breakfast service, WIFI, service station, electricity 10A and places of 12 meters by 6 meters.
Located right on the Westhoek cycle network and on the 'Ypres Salient' cycle route, this camper point is the ideal opportunity to explore Ypres and the region by bike. Renting (electric) bikes is also no problem at all. They will be ready for you at your camper site. This in cooperation with Zonnebeke bikes. Please make a reservation via www.zonnebekebikes.be.
Those who like to put on their hiking boots will certainly be in their strings here. With the provincial domain "Gasthuisbossen" and the walking network 'Ypres Salient at the camper place, this is the ideal starting point to explore the green lung around Ypres.
Ypres centre is located 3 km from the camper point. There is a bus stop 250 meters from the camper point at Bellewaerde. And with bus 84 passing by every hour, you will reach the centre of Ypres in no time. You can also be brought by Wilfried or Robert. Bellewaerde Park are our neighbours, a day full of fun for young and old. Not only the attractions are spectacular, but also the wild animals are definitely worth agreeing on. Bellewaerde Aquapark is definitely worth it for all those who love water and slides.
